To our potential Guests: If you come to Western North Carolina on your next adventure, we think you'll be pleased! We call this place God's country because of its sheer beauty. There's something for everyone and if you're bored, it's because you want to be. We can't possibly cover all there is to do and see, but below are a few ideas and websites to help you plan the vacation of your lifetime. Go out and explore nature at its best and stay with us at A"GEM" in the Forest!

Dupont State Forest .... a simply must see. If time only allows one adventure, then you must see High, Triple, and Hooker Falls .... they are only a 3 mile drive away! Dupont State Forest is just plain gorgeous and features more than 10,000 acres of forest, trails, and waterfalls. Better yet, some trails are within walking distance of our cabin. Take the kids hiking and then cool off swimming below Hooker Falls ... they will just love it.

Just name your adventure .... hiking, biking, fishing, horseback riding ... the forest has it all.

Waterfalls, Waterfalls, Waterfalls .... over 250 to explore! Transylvania County, commonly know as "The Land of Waterfalls", is bordered on three sides by mountains and is an outdoor enthusiast paradise. Soothe your spirit and explore nature at it's very best... the scenery is like no other.
  

Pisgah National Forest ... has over half a million acres of forest surrounding Mt. Pisgah. Great trails and waterfalls to explore. Visit the Cradle of Forestry, Fish Hatchery, Looking Glass Falls and Sliding Rock while you're there. Sycamore Flats is a great place for family picnics.

Blue Ridge Parkway ... looking for a beautiful scenic drive, then spend a day exploring the parkway. Over half of the Blue Ridge Parkway's 469 miles are in North Carolina. A leaf looker's paradise ... the scenery in North Carolina is just breathe taking.

Nantahala National Forest ... a great place for water lovers! Experience a real thrill and go white water rafting. Along with the namesake river and gorge, there are impressive waterfalls, including the highest waterfall in the east ... Whitewater Falls. Located 60 miles West of Brevard.
